5 Mindset Hacks ESSENTIAL for Mindset Growth

The sharpest and smartest people in the world are always looking for a way to develop their mindset into one that constantly seeks growth and development.

Luckily, there are certain mindset hacks you can use to accelerate the process for mindset growth.

You were taught at an early age through Aesop’s fable that slow and steady wins the race. This may be true for some people. But in the end, fast and steady is going to beat slow and steady, especially in this age of speed and technology.

If you’re not fast at what you do, you will lose almost every time. When is the last time you heard your boss say, “Get that back to me 2 months from now, take as much time as you need to get it right”?

If your boss is like mine, they want whatever they are asking for yesterday, or earlier. You practically have to read their mind to know what you should have been working on.

The thing about doing things slow is, you may eventually get to the end goal, but it’s going to burn a lot of daylight getting there. We don’t have time waiting for things to happen.

Trial and error should happen quickly. Your failures should teach you a lesson. Own your failures, re-work the problem and move on as quickly as possible.

You have to be quick but steady. Consistency is key in almost anything in life, whether its your job, exercising from week to week, or running a marathon like the tortoise.

If you’re not a steady person, it’s going to be very hard for you to accomplish challenging and complicated tasks, especially in the long term.

If you want to run a marathon someday, you have to work your way up to that. You have to run consistently week to week, progressively running longer each time.

If you want to have a great looking body, you have to consistently workout several days a week.  You can’t just go on a diet and expect to have a great body or keep the weight off over the long term.

Here’s the kicker, get things done quickly! You don’t have time to workout for 2 hours a day!

Granted, you can be like the original tortoise and workout for as long as you want, and you’ll probably see good results. But why waste all that time in the gym when you could just do it faster and at the beginning of your day. Most people dread their workout because they know they are going to have to spend a large amount of time out of their day doing it.

What you can do is workout right when you wake up. Head straight to your workout area and get a 15-minute H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training) or H.I.F.T. (High Intensity Functional Training) workout in.

If you need an idea on what a 15-minute workout should look like, check out my article here for a great morning workout: The Best 8 Minute Fat Burning HIIT Workout at Home + 7 Bonus Tips

In the end, your mindset for growth is what’s going to keep you on the straight and narrow. It’s going to be the thing that drives you to do those morning workouts. It’s going to be the things that helps you get to your goals. Is you are going to get anywhere important, your mindset needs to improve.

5 Mindset Hacks ESSENTIAL for Mindset Growth

MINDSET HACK #1 Develop your Mindset for Growth

If you have a static mindset, you’re never going to grow. Mental development and growth over time leads to a lifetime of abundance, knowledge, and freedom. If you sit stagnant in your thinking, it’s because your mindset is one of security and comfort seeking.  You will never get anywhere if you don’t let your mind develop and adapt to a progressive style of learning and understanding.

Stop saying you should do things. I should lose weight, go running. and eat better. Turn all of these into “musts.” I must pay that bill and go to the gym in the morning. I must eat a salad rather than that burger and fries.

Once you change your mindset into one of development and activity, you begin to take charge of your life’s goals and things start to change for the better.

One 2014 review of 21 reports found that mindfulness was found to be an effective tool at changing bad eating behaviors, such as binge and emotional eating.

A mindset for growth is one of the best things you can have.

MINDSET HACK #2 Attack your Challenges

What’s the next step on the ladder? Are you making an effort to get through that step quickly? Are you challenging yourself to get better?  Are you making your goals challenging enough to really motivate you to accomplish them or are the challenges so easy that they don’t motivate you to get them done?

These are questions you have to ask yourself. Create challenges that help you get to the next level. Each step along the way gets you closer and closer to your goals.

Turn your biggest challenges into your biggest opportunities. Once you start attacking your challenges, you’ll find yourself getting closer and closer to your goals much quicker than if you sit around day after day thinking about what you should be getting done.

MINDSET HACK #3 Break through Barriers

Don’t let your barriers stop you. Go around them, go over them, and go through them. There is always a path around a barrier. Sometimes it takes a little extra time, motivation, or strength to break them down, but barriers are going to be there no matter what. Break them down and continue on your journey. Get so used to breaking through barriers that they become mere speed bumps.

Many barriers are internal barriers. People tend to mentally sabotage their dreams, saying their too difficult. Some people might not want to go the route of an entrepreneur because they want to keep their comfy job and look good in the face of others. Still others don’t want to put their families in financial risk by venturing past their comfort boundaries. Others just don’t believe in themselves.

In order for you to break down barriers, you must first understand what the actual barrier is that is holding you back. You have to realize why you can’t get to the next step if you’re actually going to be able to get there. If you don’t have enough self-awareness to understand what you need to improve on, then the barrier will remain, even if you don’t know it exists.

In one study, researchers offered mindfulness training to 53 people in an obesity management program. They discovered that the 33 people who finished the mindfulness training dropped about 6 pounds more than those who chose not to complete the training.

Give yourself an overhead, self-evaluation, as if you were looking at yourself in the eyes of someone else. Are you now able to see more clearly what’s holding you back? Are you able to break through barriers, setting you up for mindset growth?

MINDSET HACK #4 Learn from Others

The best way to avoid barriers, hardships, and time wasting events is to mimic the path of others. Identify a person in the position you want to be in, and duplicate their path. Understand how they got there. Don’t make the same mistakes they did. They have already traversed the mine field. Use their knowledge and wisdom to get where you want to go faster.

You can learn from others in a variety of ways. Listen to podcasts, read books, watch videos. Learn from the best, until you are the best. Become disciplined in learning your craft. Expand your knowledge library. Do whatever it takes to become an expert in your field.

MINDSET HACK #5 Have an Open Mind

The most important thing you can do is have an open mind. If you are not open to new, more advanced ideas, you will never get anywhere. It doesn’t mean you have to accept everything you are told, because there is a lot of bad advice out there, but research a claim before you accept it as fact. Challenge what you are told and seek the truth in all things.

Opening your mind opens you to new opportunities. New opportunities will lead you to your goals. And your goals just might lead you to the freedom and the lifestyle you’ve been looking for. Talking to someone with a closed or already made up mind is like talking to a brick wall. You’re never going to get anywhere with that person. Keep an open mind and you will grow much higher than someone who doesn’t.

One book I like about mindset is Mindset: The New Psychology of Success.
In this book, psychologist Carol S. Dweck shows how the power of a mindset for growth can dramatically influence the success of everything in our day to day lives.
