How to Get in Shape at Home Fast

Learning how to get in shape at home fast can be a tough task, especially if you are a beginner or without equipment.

If you want to get in perfect body shape at home, you need to create a workout space just for you, fill it with exercise equipment, and use an online personal trainer or app to get your body fit, healthy, and in shape.

As a male or female, it will save you a great amount of time if you prioritize your workout and just get it done in the comfort of your home.

Working out at home will be a clean, distraction-less and convenient place to save you time and save you money, while providing you the privacy to shower without waiting in line, listen to your own music, choose your own equipment, and not have to worry about someone trying to talk to you about their work day for 45 minutes.

Trying to get in shape at home is ideal for people with busy schedules, people with kids, germaphobes, people who don’t like to be judged by others and people who just don’t like to be bothered during their workout.

Plus, you can wear whatever you want!!

Workout in your underwear, your sweatpants, or your birthday suit.

Anything goes.

I work out at home as often as I am able, and there are many ways to make this happen.

Use these 10 Tips to:

Get in Shape at Home Fast

Tip #1 Create and designate a welcoming and readily available room for exercise

If you want to get in shape at home fast to get the perfect body, you need to create an exercise room that fits your needs.

This step is critical.

If a room in your house is not specifically set up to exercise in, you are unlikely to consistently exercise over time.

Get your towel, your water and your workout equipment set up and ready for you to workout at a moment’s notice.

Put your alarm clock in your workout room so you must get up, go to the room and turn it off, putting you in position for success.

Your workout room can be your living room, basement, guest room or even your own bedroom.

A workout room with mirrors, mats, and motivational posters will make it more welcoming and easier to help you take that first step.

Tip #2 Purchase functional fitness equipment

If you’re working out at home, you’re not going to have a lot of room for large pieces of exercise equipment.

Use smaller, more effective pieces of exercise equipment.

Make a small, up-front investment in things like med balls, TRX straps, stability balls, and dumbbells.

Go to my article here for some great ideas on some of my favorite pieces of functional fitness equipment.

All these items are made to be used in the comfort of your home.

Functional fitness equipment is going to take up a limited amount of space while being a very effective option for working out.

Tip #3 Just use your own body weight

You can also get in shape fast with an in-home body weight workout that uses no exercise equipment at all!

Although counter intuitive, this might be one of the best ways to get in shape.

A great body weight workout without equipment forces you to be creative with your exercises and concentrate on form and function.

If you are going to go this route, I would recommend you at least get a set of dumbbells and/or weight vest that can give your muscles an added challenge when your muscles decide to plateau.

What are some great at home exercises?

Make exercises like squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, planks, glute raises your best friends.

If you need a pull up bar, try the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar.

It’s a simple, effective, and inexpensive solution to getting your “pull” exercises in with your “push” exercises.

Mix in a little bit of yoga, cardio, and HIIT training and you could be in better shape than most people that go to the gym on a regular basis.

Tip #4 Use the best fitness apps

If you are looking for some guidance on the best home workout apps, you’ve come to the right place.

Fitness apps can not only help you track your workouts, some will track nutrition, heart rate, weight loss, and things like daily steps and goal achievements.

My top 10 fitness apps include:

1. Fitbit Coach

2. Sworkit

3. Aaptiv

4. Keelo

5. Neou

6. StrongLifts 5×5

7. Freeletics Bodyweight

8. Nike Training Club

9. 8fit

10. Strava

A fitness could be just the thing you are looking for to track your progress, motivate you and give some structure to your daily workouts.

Tip #5 Hire an in-home personal trainer

Who likes taking the time to get to the gym? Learn how to get the perfect body shape at home with an in-home personal trainer.

For beginners and people with an especially limited amount of time, it might be best to just hire an online fitness coach.

That way they come right to your door, allowing you to maximize the time in your day.

You have the opportunity to immediately shower at home following the workout, allowing you to continue your day without interruption.

Having the personal trainer come to you might cost you a little more but could make your life easier and more efficient in the end.

How much does an in-home personal trainer cost?

A personal trainer at the gym may cost you $300-$600 a month whereas an in-home trainer, a premium service, will cost you anywhere between $500-$800 a month.

Basically, you are paying for the added time it takes the trainer to get to and from your place of residence.

Tip #6 Use the workout mirror

What is the Mirror Workout?

The mirror interactive home gym functions like a wall mirror, allowing you to get a great workout in the comfort of your own home.

Instructors from New York gyms lead a variety of live and on-demand classes, giving you piece of mind that your workout will be challenging and top-notch.

How much is the mirror workout?

The Mirror costs $1495 to start, plus a $39/mo subscription cost.

You can try the Mirror with a 30-day risk free trial. That alone might make it worth trying.

Tip #7 Distract yourself with a show or podcast

Getting in shape at home could end up being a very lonely and boring endeavor.

It’s critical that you keep yourself interested in your workout if you want to make this a real habit.

Once you put together a quality workout plan together, put on a podcast or show to take your mind off the workout.

You will get done and won’t even realize you just did a 30-minute workout.

It’s almost like running a long distance or doing a yoga class. You must have something help you get through the monotony.

Tip #8 Go for a jog

If you want to get fit and healthy at the same time, go for a jog!

Treat your neighborhood as part of your home. You don’t always have to workout in your house! Take your workout on the road. Go for a jog and stop at the park. Do your pushups, lunges, and pullups there.

Nowadays, parks are being created with the exerciser in mind.

You can often find workout equipment, jogging routes and trails ideal for your success.

A park just down the road from me has a variety of exercise equipment. Pull up bars, balance boards, push up and stretching stations all make it easy to get a great workout in.

Tip #9 Hire an online personal trainer

Don’t want someone coming over to train you?

Hire an online personal trainer. All you need is a skype connection.

I’ve trained people online for years and it’s easier than it seems.

You just need to purchase your own fitness equipment and the trainer will lead you through a workout as if he or she was right there with you in the gym.

This is especially great for people who travel.

You can go to the gym in your hotel and have a trainer at your fingertips.

Trainers are often flexible with schedules so it shouldn’t be a problem if you want to work out at different times of the days either.

Tip #10 Use Beachbody on Demand

If you are really wanting to get in shape FAST, try Beachbody on Demand. From beginner to advanced, these workouts can challenge your very limits.

I work out with Shawn T often and love his HIIT training workouts.

He’s one of my favorite celebrity trainers on the market.

If I do one of his fitness programs for just two months, I shed multiple pounds, tone up and feel like I’m in the best shape of my life.

Try Insanity if you dare, one of my favorite workouts.
